Site Verification for Google, Bing, Yandex, Baidu and Pinterest
Search engines and Pinterest ask you to prove that you own your site before they share data with you. The usual way is a small meta tag in your site’s code. CrawlWP adds these tags for you from one screen, so you don’t need to edit theme files, and nothing is lost when you change themes.
What it does
What CrawlWP site verification does
Paste a code from each service, and CrawlWP adds the right verification tag to your site.
On this page
Verify your site in Google Search Console.
Bing
Verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools.
Yandex
Verify your site in Yandex Webmaster.
Baidu
Verify your site with Baidu, China’s main search engine.
Claim your website on Pinterest to see analytics for Pins from your site.
One screen for all five
Every verification code in one place, instead of five different methods.
Paste the code only
Paste just the code, not the whole tag. CrawlWP builds the tag for you.
The tag format is shown
Each field shows the meta tag it adds, so you know what goes on your site.
Survives theme changes
CrawlWP adds the tags, not your theme, so they stay when you switch themes.
No code editing
No FTP, no editing header.php, and no extra plugin.
Free
Site verification is part of CrawlWP Lite, the free version.
Ready for the next step
After verifying, connect Google, Bing, and Yandex on the API Settings tab to start instant indexing.
Why it matters
Why verify your site
Tools like Google Search Console show data only to the site owner. Verification proves the site is yours.
Once verified, you can see how your site performs in search, find errors, submit your sitemap, and connect CrawlWP for instant indexing.
How it works
Verify your site in three steps
Do this once for each service you use. It takes about a minute each.
Step 1
Get your code
In each webmaster tool, choose the HTML tag method. Copy only the code inside content=”…”, not the whole tag.
Step 2
Paste it in CrawlWP
On the Site Verification screen, paste each code into its field and click Save Changes.
Step 3
Click Verify
Go back to the webmaster tool and click Verify. It finds the tag on your homepage.
After verification
Verification is step one of two
Verifying proves the site is yours. Connecting the API is what lets CrawlWP submit your pages for indexing and, with Premium, show your search data inside WordPress.
Questions
Site verification questions
Answers to the questions people most often ask about verifying a WordPress site.
What is site verification?
It is how you prove to a service like Google Search Console that you own a website. Once verified, the service shows you data about your site.
Do I need to verify with all five?
No. Verify with the ones you use. Google, Bing and Yandex also connect to CrawlWP for instant indexing and, with Premium, for search data inside WordPress.
Where do I find my verification code?
In the webmaster tool, choose the HTML tag method. The code is the value inside content=”…” in the tag it gives you.
Do I paste the whole meta tag?
No. Paste only the code. CrawlWP builds the full tag for you.
Will this survive a theme change?
Yes. That is the main reason to add the tags here rather than in your theme’s header.php file.
Can I verify by DNS or file upload instead?
Yes. Those methods work without CrawlWP. If you want a Domain property in Google Search Console, you must use DNS. The meta tag is usually the quickest way when you have WordPress admin access.
Should I remove the code after verifying?
No. Services check again from time to time. If the tag disappears, you can lose your verified access.
Is site verification free?
Yes. It is part of CrawlWP Lite, the free version.
