How to choose
Which WordPress SEO plugin should you use?
Start from what you actually need rather than from feature counts. These are the nine situations we see most.
You want the most in the free version
Rank Math. Redirects, a 404 monitor, five focus keywords, and basic Search Console data, all free. CrawlWP free is close and adds indexing.
You write and want help writing
Yoast. Its content and readability analysis is more developed than anything else here, and Premium bundles its Local, News and Video products.
You are new to SEO
SureRank. The setup wizard and site audit are the best first-run experience of the six, and the free version is genuinely usable.
You run many client sites
SEOPress or AIOSEO. SEOPress Pro is unlimited sites for a flat fee. AIOSEO Pro covers 10 sites, and its Link Assistant is the strongest internal-linking tool here.
You need to know what got indexed

There is no single answer, so this page has two tables rather than a verdict. Rank Math has the broadest free tier, Yoast the best content analysis, SureRank the easiest setup, Slim SEO and The SEO Framework the lightest footprint, SEOPress the best value across many sites, and CrawlWP the only multi-engine index tracking and reporting.
Can I run two SEO plugins at once?
Briefly, while you import your data, but not permanently. Two SEO plugins produce duplicate meta tags and competing sitemaps, which is the one real risk when switching.
Will switching plugins hurt my rankings?
Not if the output is equivalent, which is what the importers are for. Search engines read your meta tags, not your plugin list. Deactivate the old plugin once you have checked the import.
Do I need a paid SEO plugin at all?
Many sites do not. Every plugin here has a free version that handles titles, meta descriptions, schema, and sitemaps. Paid tiers are for redirects, internal linking, search data, and indexing.
Which plugins can CrawlWP import from?
